Volleyball: Kabera, Ngarambe vie to head volleyball federation

The race for the Rwanda volleyball federation (FRVB) presidency will be a two-horse race between former vice president, Raphael Ngarambe and President of UTB volleyball club, Dr. Callixte Kabera.

The elections are scheduled for May 29, to get a replacement for Leandre Karekezi who decided not to run for a second term after the expiry of his first term.

Times Sport understands that the General Assembly confirmed that the two are the only candidates that submitted applications for the federation presidency.

The other candidates vying for other positions include Eric Nsabimana from Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) who is contesting for the first Vice President role. He played Volleyball in various teams and was the Captain of the national team.

The second Vice President is Jean de Dieu Bagirishya of Kirehe VC. Bagirishya is a sports journalist and former volleyball coach.

There are 3 candidates for the post of Secretary-General: Philbert Mucyo from UTB VC, Innocent Nshimiyimana from Gatenga VC and Dr. Jean-Bernard Ndayambaje from UR Nyarugenge.

The position of Treasurer has two candidates who are: Josiane Mukase from RRA VC and Grace Karigirwa from APR VC.

The election of the FRVB Executive Committee was scheduled to take place on March 27, 2021 but the Ministry of Sports directed that the event be postponed for review purposes including the enactment of electoral rules.
