Qatar mourns death of envoy to Rwanda

The Ambassador of Qatar to Rwanda Misfer bin Faisal Al Shahwani died on Friday, July 19, according to the country’s Prime Minister.

"We extend our condolences to ourselves and the families of the deceased Qatari diplomat, His Excellency Mr. Misfer bin Faisal Al Shahwani, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Rwanda, who passed away today,” wrote Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a Friday post on X.

"We ask God Almighty to accept and forgive him and to inspire his family and friends’ patience and solace,” he said.

The Prime Minister did not communicate the cause of the diplomat’s death or where he was by the time of his passing.

The Qatari diplomat began his work in Rwanda as ambassador in October 2021.

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affair and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe sent condolences to the deceased diplomat’s family and the people of Qatar.

"I wish to convey our sincere condolences to the State of Qatar and the bereaved family for the passing of a diplomat and colleague, H.E. Misfer bin Faisal Al Shahwani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Kigali,” Nduhungirehe wrote on X on Friday.

"May his soul rest in peace.”
