MUSANZE — The Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry-ISAE Busogo  held its 2nd graduation ceremony on Monday, March 31st.

The convocation awarded for the first time 19 students with degrees in agriculture and animal sciences while 892 graduated with advanced diplomas.

The ceremony which took place at the university’s stadium in Busogo had arecord  number of male students’  which stood at  74.6 percent of the total graduates, with 71 of them passing  with a distinction.

The function was presided over by the Minister of Education and Chancellor of government institutions Hon.Dr.Daphrose Gahakwa.

The chancellor urged  universities to become entrepreneurial in their approach by building strong university-industry-government partnership in order to boost their incomes through generating funds internally.

She commended ISAE’s  efforts in fostering  not only teaching but also research, technological transfer and continuing education.

The Rector Dr.Charles Karemangingo said that the institute is committed to becoming a respected centre of high standards and influence in education, research and technology transfer in agriculture and animal husbandry.

‘We are dedicated to our objective of providing knowledge through undertaking various forms of  research focused on  rural development by offering innovative  values to the students who join our institution’, said the  rector.

Sources from the university reveal that as a way of offering field extension services the students of ISAE last year conducted the vaccination and treatment of 12,600 heads of cattle  in the Eastern province within a period of  9 days.

During the graduation ceremony the  best two graduates Umuhoza Ernestine and Leoncie Harerimana were given  cash awards of Rwf.100,000 each. 

The Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry-IASE has  a total number of 2,227 students enrolled in different departments. It  offers advanced diplomas and degrees in agriculture and other related animal sciences.
