Defender Fitina Omborenga has set himself a target of winning more trophies with Rayon Sports after leaving arch rivals APR with a ‘head held high’.

The Rwanda international signed a two year-deal which will see him be a Blue until June 2026. He will play first match in Rayon’s colors in pre-season friendly against Gorilla FC at Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday, July 20.

Omborenga enjoyed a trophy-laden seven-year spell with APR FC before parting ways with the army side to join their fierce rivals Rayon with whom he is looking forward to adding more trophies to his name.

"I&039;ve won many trophies with APR in past years and I am grateful for that but I have changed the journey and I want to turn them in Rayon,” Omborenga told Weekend Sport.

"I can say that I'm looking to enjoy my new journey with Rayon Sports and I am happy to join them. As for what fans expect from me, I want to make them happy and show them what I have."

"I want to take the club where they deserve to be. We have learned about each other more on and off the pitch with new teammates. I was excited when I signed for the club because Rayon Sports is one of the biggest clubs in Rwanda," the 28-year-old added.

Omborenga reunited with a host of players with whom they played together at club and country including Olivier Seif Niyonzima, Haruna Niyonzima and club captain Kevin Muhire.

With them and a host of other members of the new-look squad, the defender hopes to bag more trophies during his stay.

"I am looking forward to do better and I am a winner who are always hungry to win matches, I will be giving my best so that we can lift trophy this season and with my teammates we will make it," he noted.

Besides spells with domestic club Kiyovu and APR, Omborenga also had stints with foreign clubs including Topvar Topoľčany in Slovakia and Litex Lovech where he played one season on loan from Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia.
