President Paul Kagame welcomed Swedish Ambassador to Rwanda, Johanna Teague, and British High Commissioner to Rwanda, Omar Daair, to Village Urugwiro on Thursday, July 18, as they conclude their diplomatic missions.

Amb Teague, who began her tenure in December 2020, has been instrumental in fostering partnerships between Rwanda and Sweden, particularly in education, healthcare, and sustainable development.

Under her leadership, Sweden increased its development cooperation with Rwanda by 40 percent, focusing on human rights, democracy, climate, economic growth, and research cooperation.

High Commissioner Daair, appointed in January 2021, significantly enhanced UK-Rwanda relations in trade, investment, and education, bolstering mutual growth within the Commonwealth.

His tenure will conclude in September, as Alison Thorpe prepares to assume office, transitioning from her role as Head of Africa Department Central and Southern and Special Envoy to the Great Lakes.
