Rwanda’s most decorated long distance runner Dieudonne Disi left for Paris, France yesterday abroad a Sabena flight to take part in Paris International Marathon set for April 5.

The Paris marathon is a prestigious competition known for its global appeal and has been running since 1977.

Over 50.000 participants from all over the world are expected to take part in the race, will be broadcasted live on Dstv channel 8.

Disi, competing in the event for the first time, is optimistic of his chances as he prepares to upset the best at the distance.

The 27-year-old will be using the event to prepare for the European athletics championship to be held in Berlin, Germany in August.

"I am going to run 42 km for the first time but I’m not fazed by the challenge. I’ve been doing half marathon (21km) in the past but am confident of performing well in my first full marathon,” Disi told Times Sport before his departure.
