National Rugby League

Buffaloes 95-00 UNR Grizzlies

Remera Buffaloes showed that there is an immense gulf in class between them and UNR Grizzlies as they routed their rivals 95-0 in the only national rugby league fixture played over the weekend.

The win was a bold statement by the Defending champions that they are in the mood to retain the title.

Full back Vincent Kamali and Center Juma Mugabo helped themselves to hat-tricks of tries as Buffaloes hammered their inexperienced opponents in Rugunga.

Flanker, Alex Araire also pulled off two tries in what was vividly a one-sided encounter.

After the game, Buffaloes coach-player Gerard Nsenga expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. And for the victory, Buffaloes registered five points; four for the win and one bonus point while the National University side settled for a point.

"This is a big win for us and we are happy to gain that bonus point,” he said before adding, "but we are not getting carried away because we have some tough games coming up”.

The other weekend ties; Lion de Fers vs Puma, Sharks vs Kaduha Tigers, and Simba vs Gorilla were all called off due to ‘Muganda’ (community work) and have now been rescheduled for this Saturday.
