Rwanda international Rosine Micomyiza scored a game-high 30 points to help Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women’s basketball club beat APR Women 73-58 at Lycée de Kigali gymnasium on Wednesday night, July 16.

REG came into this game not only looking for revenge but also seeking to stretch their lead to four points at the top of the table.

Philoxy Destiney Promise and Nandy Uwitonze contributed 16 and 11 points respectively for Esperance Mukaneza’s side which has been dominant throughout the game.

REG started the game brightly, taking the first quarter 27-15 but APR reduced the deficit by claiming the second quarter 14-8, hence trailing 35-29 at the break.

Back in the second half, REG dominated the army side and won the third quarter 24-14 to open a 16-point lead with a quarter to play.

APR won the last quarter 15-14 but it was not enough for them to make a turnaround as REG successfully got their revenge on the side that beat time 77-75 during the first round of the league in March.

The victory saw REG extend their lead at the top with 35 points, four points clear of APR who are in second place with 31 while Groups Scolaire Marie Reine Rwaza are third with 28 points.

In another women’s league game held at the same venue on Wednesday, The Hoops edged East African University Rwanda (EAUR) 72-57.
