Volleyball: APR target quarter-finals in African club championships

APR Volleyball Club has set a target of reaching the quarterfinals in the upcoming African Club Championships scheduled for 16 to 28 June in Sousse, Tunisia.

APR and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) volleyball clubs will represent the country in the competition which will include some of the biggest volleyball clubs on the continent.

Speaking to Times Sport, Elie Mutabazi, APR head coach said their target is to reach the last eight of the competition.

"Hopefully, we can reach the quarter-finals. That is our target,” he said, adding that the team is in good shape and is committed to the mission.

"We are working hard and committed to the mission. We all want to give it everything. We are in good shape, and the players are focused. We want to achieve the set targets in the competition.”

According to the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), 26 teams will take part in the continental club championships.

Teams that will take part in the Championship: Sfax, Esperance (Tunisia), Nemostars (Uganda), Wolaita Dicha, Madda Walabu University, Mugher Cement (Ethiopia), FAP (Cameroon), Ahly Tripoli, Ittihad Misurata, Swehly (Libya), VC Price, Espoir, Police (RDC), Amel Tlemcen, Bourj Bouarirj (Algeria),  Rukinzo (Burundi), Nigeria Customs, Rwanda Energy Group, APR (Rwanda), Kenya Ports Authority, GSU, Prisons (Kenya), University of Zimbabwe, JKT, Jeshi Stars and Afunzo (Tanzania).
