Coach Rene Feller has been given a life honorary club membership as record nine-time league winners, APR bided farewell to the Dutchman on Sunday at Camp Kigali.
APR honorary president and Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Gen. James Kabarebe declared the Dutchman a life club member and lauded his coaching skills which have elevated APR’s football to a professional standard.
"One year ago, we looked around the globe for a possible experienced and skilled coach and in doing so, Feller was found to be the right man to manage APR.”
"In his reign as club head coach, he has introduced professionalism, discipline and modern football which has seen APR dominate the local and regional scene with good football,”
"Feller introduced impressive and tactical football at the club and I want Erik Paske to continue from where his fellow coach has stopped but should be aware of a tough challenge that awaits him,” Kabarebe said, adding that there is no way Feller could be appreciated rather than being giving him a life club membership.
Though Feller ended his coaching over the weekend, he will remain the club’s advisor, according to Kabarebe.
The Dutchman signed a one-year deal last April to replace Andy Mfutila.
