It is certainly going to be yet another fascinating showcase of vintage and luxury automobiles after organisers announced the return of Kigali Auto Show with a host of entertainment activities also lined up to spice up the event.
Organised by M&K event company, the second edition of the car show is scheduled for August 3 and it will shift to Tuuza Inn, Nyamata in Bugesera District, from Gahanga Cricket Stadium which previously hosted the inaugural edition.
"We are taking the Kigali Auto Show to Tuuza Inn which we believe will bring more spark and entertainment to the audience. The place is the best fit for the car show,” one of the organisers told The New Times.
Organizers promised an even more exceptional auto exhibition and entertainment event, with pretty much confidence that it will live up to its billing.
The Kigali Auto Show 2024 is expected to attract different people from Rwanda and in the region to exhibit old and current automobile models and concept cars.
Among activities on the agenda of the day are public exhibitions of vintage cars and current automobile vehicles, Matatus from Kenya, sport cars, luxury cars, car stunt, and drifts caravan of up to 100 vehicles from Kigali.
"It is an event which will be experienced by family and friends, public car lovers, automotive industry representatives, dealers among other attendees,” the organisers said in a statement.
Kigali Auto Show was inaugurated in 2023 at Gahanga Cricket Stadium where over 30 vintage cars were displayed. The event aims to give car-lovers in Rwanda a platform to meet again and celebrate the existence of their luxury and vintage cars.
Classic car shows typically involve the display of automobiles considered to be of value based on their history, age and appeal, in celebration of their antiqueness, similar to how antique art is revered.
Car owners can now sign up their vehicles for free exhibition at Kigali Auto Show which will be host by socialite Claudine Muyango, a former Miss Rwanda contestant.
Beyond just car exhibition
There was a rich display of classic cars during the first edition but the turn up was not impressive despite performances by household DJs Pyfo and Tyga.
To ensure that it attracts huge turn up, organisers are this time working on ‘taking care of the entertainment aspect’ and have lined up a variety of performances and outdoorsy activities, to pair with an innate celebration and exhibition of vintage cars.
The car show will well feature a variety activities including an exciting Deejay experience with the famous South African duo ‘Tag Team,’ Subaru Boys from Uganda and Rwanda’s very own DJ Marnaud and on the decks.
