RWAMAGANA — The Coordinator of Avega Agahozo, Chantal Kabasinga has said that the association is prepared to support its members and the Genocide survivors in general during this year’s  week of Genocide commemoration.

Kabasinga was speaking to Journalists in an interview on Sunday after a two-day annual Association congress held at Avega offices in Rwamagana district, Eastern Province.

Avega Agahozo is a not for profit  organisation formed by widows of the 1994 Tutsi Genocide to address the problems of the genocide survivors.

Kabasinga asserted: "We have already planned for the 2009 commemoration of the 1994 Genocide. We will pay our tribute to all our loved ones in all the sectors.”

She added that,  "among other activities slated for  this year will be to  reach all districts to meet orphans of the Genocide and members of Avega”.

She also pointed out that Avega has trained almost all of her  members on how to handle trauma and to embark on starting income generating cooperatives. 

She revealed that the group has helped vulnerable groups to access necessities like accommodation and to give members hope.
