The past two years have not gone well for singer Alto since he started his music journey at Ladies Empire record label in 2018.

The singer, real name Eric Dusenge, is now fighting to bring his music career back on track after he reached an agreement to pursue his music under the management of TB Music Entertainment, a record label that recently opened music management operations in Kigali.

Alto signed for the record label to end his two-year spell at Ladies Empire after he was not satisfied by the label’s services which, he said, were way far less than what he was promised when he joined the label.

In 2018, the singer quit job at a hotel to do music after rapper Paccy made big promises for him once he joins the label that she was representing.

When Paccy convinced Alto to join Ladies Empire, the latter didn’t hesitate as he hoped to see his music grow under the rapper’s mentorship.

The contract stipulated that the label would help him release at least five songs in a year only for the singer to release just two singles, ‘Uzansaza’ and ‘Ndacyagukunda’, throughout his time at the label. He also featured in the New Generation song ‘Ndaryohewe’.

After signing under TB Music Entertainment, Alto explained that he did not see a good future for his music under Ladies Empire because he was only walking steps back due to the fact that the promises made in the contract were not respected.

"I quit my job because of the promises that I was shown on the table. I thought my life was going to change but the two years proved the opposite. I was convinced to quit my job expecting that the label would find concerts that would help me make money but it didn’t happen,” claimed the singer.

"I respect Paccy for believing in me and showing me the way but I cannot continue to do music this way. I had to decide for the benefit of my music,” he added.

Alto’s move to part ways with Ladies Empire was also motivated by the fact that the record label has reportedly closed doors since December last year.

"I have hope that the new management will help me push my music to another level. I love music but I also need the support from the management to help me achieve my targets towards a successful career and I trust TB Music can do that,” he said.

Born in Rwamagana District, Eastern Province, Alto joined music after his debut song ‘Bye Bye’ attracted the attention of music lovers.

It is the same song that attracted Ladies Empire to sign the 24-year-old singer who dreams of establishing his music name not only on the local scene but in Africa.

Despite the challenges that he faced under Ladies Empire, Alto is optimistic that his music ambitions could reach a milestone under TB Music Entertainment.

He starts a new journey under his new management with a brand new song 'Umuzigo' to be released today Monday, March 29.
