Thrills, vibes of Volkano Fest: What to expect this year

The annual festival is back for its fourth edition with local and regional creatives set to perform in a three-day artistry experience. The festival will follow its acclaimed sub-section music event ‘Mechanical Advantage’ scheduled for July 13 at Mundi Centre.

The third edition of ‘Mechanical Advantage’ will feature local and regional deejays presenting cutting-edge electronic music in response to high demand from fans anticipating the Volkano Fest.

The DJ lineup features Rwandans Alyt and Lyynduh, Spanish DJ Maria Cielos, and Ugandans Crazy Mind Original, Donzilla, and Itsmndnyt. Music will be played from 5pm to 2am.

Other activities expected to take place ahead of the Volkano Fest also include a jazz music event and panel discussion on August 30, and "Industry Night”, a night before the festival.

Early bird tickets for the ‘Mechanical Advantage’ event are available at Rwf 7,000 and Rwf 10, 000 at the door. The doors will open at 3pm.

This year’s edition of the Volkano Festival to be held in Musanze, Nyakinama from August 4-6 will host a pool of various activities with new features added to usual activities.

Revellers will experience a three-stage festival of different performers, film screenings, photo exhibition, on-site camping, food, fashion, and yoga among others.

According to the organisers, the festival will not only create a community of artistes in the region, it intends to support tourism in the country as well as raise gender balance awareness.

Performers include Patrick Nyamitari, Kenny Mirasano, Kaya Byinshi, Natasha Muziramakenga, poet Eric 1Key, Rafiki Choga, Juilien, Intwari Club, Moise Mutangana, Inki and Nephews Band among others.
