VUMILIA MFITIMANA, 24, is an upcoming gospel artiste who purposed to use her talent to preach the gospel, having been trained to sing by her mother at a tender age.
Although she sang for fun and as a hobby, realising that some people would miss heaven due to their sinful nature, she decided to sing gospel music in 2018.
She considered that her music would reach out to a great number of people in Rwanda, and transform them. Her aim was and still is, to win souls to Christ through momentous gospel songs, with a touching message.
Mfitimana has since released 10 Kinyarwanda gospel songs that include; "lmpanda y'lmana”, "Nzahura”, "Hari Yesu”, "Umugore”, "lzabukuru”, "Winshengabaza”, "Amahoro”, "Ibaga nta kinya”, "Uzandinde gupfa kabiri”, and "Nibo.”
While writing her songs, she focuses on cheering and counseling people, but also teaches them how to live in peace and harmony.
"Through my songs, I also remind people that we are just visitors on earth with different purposes to fulfill and that we shall all be accountable to God. Since the world will come to an end, we will have to prepare ourselves for the second coming of Jesus, by repenting of our sins and accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior,” the gospel vocalist said.
Her music journey has never left her the same as she has learned many things, such as, being confident, making decisions, patience, and how to manage the big population with distinctive mindsets.
Mfitimana has also noticed that she has to be a reflection of what she preaches.
Her singing journey however, hasn’t been all rosy as she hasn’t been working to sustain it financially and has been relying on the financial support of her fans to release her music. She is however, looking forward to doing music as a profession.
Mfitimana is a Seventh day Adventist at Elayon Church in Ruhango District and a student at University of Gitwe in Southern province. Once the covid-19 situation clears, she anticipates organising a concert and promote her songs on her YouTube channel (Vumilia Official), and fully venture into music once she completes university.
