Traditional singer Clarisse Karasira on Friday, January 29, released a brand-new song, ‘Mwabaye Intwari’ in which she pays tribute to the national heroes who sacrificed their lives to liberate the nation.
The singer dropped the song just three days prior to Rwanda's annual Heroes Day, marked on February 1.
The song’s audio was produced by Producer Jimmy while the video was taken by video director AB Godwin.
Karasira told The New Times that the song was inspired by the patriotism shown by Rwandan heroes during the liberation struggle and that it is an opportunity to remind the young generation to draw inspiration from the national heroes to serve their country.
"Heroes’ Day personally reminds me of the values connected to heroism that we are supposed to show, as artistes, and as people in general,” she said.
"I recorded this song to show the character of heroism that our heroes showed. They showed generosity, kindness, strength, love, attention. I think revisiting the values of heroism can inspire the current generatio and the one to come, to follow our heroes' footsteps,” she added.
Karasira, who is now engaged to Sylvain De Joie Ifashahayo, was expected to launch her debut album in December but was later forced to postpone it following the spike in the Covid-19 infections and death toll.
The postponement, however, did not discourage the fast-rising singer from recording more songs.
