Editor,

I live in Nyagatare and would like to respond to an article published in this daily about the health week. I am happy with our government’s initiative to tackle mother child health care.

It is true that our people continue to perish because they are not informed about the health care benefits at our hospitals and the health week has really informed us.

I am also happy to know that the government is committed to realising the health care millennium goal to which I greatly applaud all the stakeholders.

The provision of family planning methods will really help people be able to plan their families especially in the villages where people continue to have more children than they can care for.

With improved health care, our people will benefit and will live longer than they would have. Promotion of safe motherhood will help our women to give birth safely.

I am really happy that the government has appreciated women and in their endeavor to include women not just in family care but as leaders in health care programs.

Women are core in development in any nation. I hope we continue to include them more and more even as we endeavour to reach all our set goals.
