Rwanda recorded nine Covid-19 related deaths on Thursday, January 21.
This is the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases recorded by Rwanda since the time when the pandemic hit the country back in Mid-March.
Now the total number of deaths related to the virus is 162 in the country.
Among the new death cases reported on Friday were three women aged 61, 43, 32 from Kigali, and an 80-year-old one from Karongi.
The remaining 5 were men. Tree of these were from Kigali, aged 75, 73, 72; one was from Huye, aged 86; and another was from Rubavu, aged 58.
On the same day, the country registered 310 new infections of Covid-19, taking the total of confirmed cases of the virus in the country to 12,170.
Friday's new infections were detected in various parts of the country, with Kigali contributing 85 of them, Gatsibo following with 57, Ngoma 41, Gicumbi 27, Huye 18, Rulindo 11, Karongi with 11, Musanze 10 while Nyagatare recorded nine new cases. Gisagara recorded 7, Nyanza 6, Kirehe 6, Burera 5, Rubavu 5, Muhanga 3, Rusizi 2, Kamonyi 2, Nyamagabe 2, Ruhango 2 and Nyamasheke with 1.
