KARONGI — Incidences of crime within Karongi district increased this month. According to police reported incidences jumped  from 13 last month to 20 this month.

The rise is attributed to the increasing number of government officials implicated in the health insurance scam commonly known as Mutuelle de Sante. In a security meeting held on Tuesday, it was established that cases related to the insurance scheme scam increases day by day.

Other crime cases registered include suicide, robbery and family conflict among others. The meeting chaired by the District mayor, Bernard Kayumba, also exposed cases  of genocide ideology among government officials.
