Record nine-time league winners APR Fc have confirmed assistant coach Eric Paske as the replacement for Rene Feller to the post of the club’s head coach.

APR club president Brig. Gen. Alex Kagame told Times Sport yesterday that the current assistant coach Paske will take over the reigns of head coach post from Feller whose contract runs out on April 1.

"Feller’s contract with the club expires on April 1 and Paske will continue from where fellow Dutch man has stopped.

"We don’t have any other coach taking that post. He will be assisted by the existing members on the technical bench. We will not recruit anyone else to assist him as this could bring chaos again,” Kagame said.

In his last game with the club, Feller will lead APR to Egypt for the of the African Confederation Cup second round second leg tie against Haras El Hodoud on April 3. Both clubs played out a goalless draw in the first leg held on March 14 in Kigali.

Feller joined APR on a one-year contract, just five months after being appointed national coach of Eritrea in 2008, taking over from Mfutila, who was axed after APR crashed out of the Champions League in the first round with a 4-1 goal aggregate against Egyptian side Zamalek.

Feller admitted that he’s bowing out of the game on health grounds, leaving his assistant Paske in charge.

"I have health complications and I will go for a surgery in Holland in early April after completing my contract with APR,” the Ex-Eritrea national team coach said recently.

Feller’s tenure with Eritrea lasted just three months, after the Red Sea Boys withdrew from 2010 World Cup qualification. He also previously worked in Kuwait.

Last year, Feller won the Amahoro Cup title but relinquished the national league crown to a Jean Marie Ntagwabira led Atraco.

The veteran tactician did not only lose the league title but he also failed to help nine-time league champions defend their Cecafa/Kagame Cup title, dropping out at the quarterfinal stage.

This year, Feller has guided APR reach the second round of the African Confederation Cup after thrashing Kenya’s Gor Mahia 6-1 on goals aggregate.
