Paris 2024: Rwandan athletes begin pre-training camp

Rwanda Olympic Team on Monday, July 8, held their first training session in preparation for the highly-anticipated Paris 2024 Games scheduled for July 26 to August 11.

Athletes of the Rwanda Olympic Team on Monday, July 8, held their first training session in preparation for the highly-anticipated Paris 2024 Games scheduled for July 26 to August 11.

Rwanda will be represented by eight athletes at the 2024 Summer Olympics. They include five women and three men across four sports disciplines namely cycling, athletics, swimming, and fencing.

The team arrived in France on Saturday morning, July 6, and is currently accommodated at Hotel Odalys City Paris Levallois-Perret. The athletes will be camping in Courbevoie for a two-week pre-training camp before heading to the Olympic Village on July 23.

Their first training sessions took place at various venues where fencer Tufaha Uwihoreye trained at Grand Stade Jean-Pierre Rives-Courbevoie and swimmer Lidwine Umuhoza Uwase at Piscine Olympique Municipale de Courbevoie while cyclists Eric Manizabayo and Diane Ingabire trained on the roads of Bois de Boulogne. Jazilla Mwamikazi (Mountain Bike) and Oscar Cyusa Peyre Mitilla (Swimming) are also training in France.

Meanwhile, marathoner Clementine Mukandanga and 10,000m runner Yves Nimubona, are still training in Italy before joining the team in France.
