The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Rwanda has crossed 10 thousand. The development came on Wednesday January 13 when the country recorded 172 new cases, taking the total number of all confirmed cases to 10,122. Rwanda is the third country in the East African region to reach 10 thousand cases of the virus. With over 98,000, Kenya has the highest numbers of confirmed cases in the region; followed by Uganda with over 37,900; Rwanda with 10,122; South Sudan with over 3,670; Burundi with over 1,019 total cases; and Tanzania with 509 (for months there wasn't new data on Covid-19 numbers from Tanzania). The Democratic Republic of Congo has over 19,700 confirmed cases. According to an update from the Ministry of Health, of the new cases reported in Rwanda on Wednesday; 88 were from Kigali; 33 from Huye;  15 from Rwamagana; 12 from Gicumbi; 6 from Musanze; 4 from Rubavu; 3 from Nyagatare; 3 from Muhanga; 3 from Nyamasheke; 2 from Burera; 1 from Rusizi; 1 from Karongi; and 1 from Gakenke. On the same day, 3 Covid-19 relates deaths were reported, taking the total number of such deaths in the country to 128. Two of the deceased were men of 50 and 61 years of age from Kigali. The third victim was 90-year old man from Huye. The total number of people that have recovered from the virus in Rwanda is 6,974; and the active cases are 3,020.
