Editor,

A couple of months ago, there was a lot of construction along the Nyarutarama road, alongside the MTN centre. Early every morning, long lines of men, armed with hoes could be seen digging what seemed to be a trench for some kind of cables.

Their work no doubt resulting in a lot of destruction of the plants in the area and for a while, the moulds of soil were an eyesore to the otherwise lush and leafy suburb.

Soon after the trench was refilled with earth, another set of workforce was deployed to the area. This time, early each morning, women could be seen re-planting tree seedlings and grass on the freshly uncovered earth.

Today, the grass has grown and the seedlings matured into budding trees.  One can hardly tell that only a few months ago, this area resembled a construction site.

Kudos to those responsible for keeping Kigali green.
