APR FC winger Gilbert Mugisha will be looking to score more goals to help his side get positive results during the much-awaited 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The Rwanda international is part of the 24-man squad that new head coach Darko Novic will be using during the regional football showpiece which will take place in Tanzania and Zanzibar from July 9-21.
Mugisha became the first place to score at the new-look 45,000-seat Amahoro Stadium when his lone strike helped APR beat Police FC 1-0 on July 1 to lift the stadium inauguration trophy.
The former Rayon Sports talisman, however, said he is just getting started as he looks to go up and firing so he can score more goals for his club during the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
"I’m delighted with it, but there’s still more to come. I look after myself. I have always said that working hard always pays. My legs feel fine so that’s why I am ready for Cecafa Kagame Cup," Mugisha said.

Mugisha has never won the CECAFA Kagame Cup in his career. But his ambitions, going forward, are just beyond the tournament itself but the new season during APR will be looking to retain the league title for a record sixth time in a row as well as knock on the CAF Champions League group stages once again.
"We have to be consistent and keep working hard. We will keep fighting to win more titles and I want to keep my level on a high. I want to win every tournament with APR and I want to keep scoring,” he added

Novic’s army side is pooled in Group C alongside Sports Villa Club of Uganda, Singida Big Stars of Tanzania and Sudanese powerhouse Al Merreikh.
They play their opening Group C match against home side Singida at KMC Stadium at 4pm.
Departing for Tanzania for the competition, APR FC Chairman Col. Richard Karasira said that he has faith in Novic and how he will lineup his new-look team in Tanzania.
"We are not going to lose and we don’t plan to lose. Only the coach knows how the team will lineup,” Karasira said.
APR FC have so far won the tournament three times with the most recent being in 2010 when they beat Villa SC 2-0 in Kigali.
"He (Novic) knows that APR FC won all three CECAFA Kagame Cup trophies on Rwandan soil. I think it would be even better winning it away from home,” Karasira added.
