Simply put, 2020 was ‘not the year’ for many, however, when we know what we want to accomplish, it’s easier to make a plan of action for reaching our goals. Many people set New Year’s resolutions, only to forget about them by February. But this should not deter you. Keep setting those goals. With 2021 just hours away, what are your aspirations for the coming year and how do you intend to accomplish them? Weekender’s Joan Mbabazi asked a variety of people what their plans are for 2021 are.
Innocent Kabera, Family counsellor
As usual, during this season I am reflecting on all that has happened this year, both achievements and failures, this will help me in redirecting my personal and public goals. I have decided to deepen my knowledge of the psychology of romantic love. I have already started carrying out research. I will also work on some children’s topics in the following months. I am also planning to start writing journals or blogs in both English and Kinyarwanda.
Lucky Coco, Artiste
2020 has taught me so much. I will not repeat the mistakes that I have made in the past. I am also planning to be consistent with my music.
Joseph Ryarasa Nkurunziza, Doctor
2021 will be a year to sharpen and gain new skills with an aim of growing ‘Never Again Rwanda’, by continuing to enhance our core focus on advancing operational excellence across our programmes and interventions. While endeavouring to move from good to great, the aspiration is hinged on continuously supporting peacebuilding and social justice efforts, by engaging society to embrace sustainable peace and social justice. I also aspire to foster a learning-based culture, where we share our collective learning in organisations, teams, and the community at large.
Madeleine Iradukunda Kayiranga, Training and Development specialist
2020 was a year of so many obstacles but it also showed me that I can overcome anything. 2021 is a year for me to strive for greatness, live a compassionate life, contribute to the development of our community, but most importantly, live a life of substance and never let anything hold me back.
Marvin Trevor Aizire, Religious leader
After a challenging year like 2020 where places of worship were closed, people now are hungrier for God like never before. Fellowshipping together is now more precious and 2021 hopefully will be a year where Christians go to seek God more than ever before. As the Church of Christ, we are yet to see a great increase in every way.
Daniel G Ganza, PR Consultant
In 2021 I will be preaching the gospel, spend more time with my family, and seek all possible means to make money.
Divin Lione Dushimimana, Student
I want to focus on my education and spend more time doing revision. I want to graduate from high school and join college.
Aline Gahongayire, Gospel artiste
The New Year will be for making the world a better place by mending broken hearts and inspiring people through my music. I will also contribute to sustainable development of our country by building faith, working hard and providing means to deprived people, and in the end, it will bring change and viable growth.
Vivian Kabasinga, Entrepreneur
I hope to grow my business by investing in it in terms of capital, social media visibility, and time. I will also seek training and skills to see that we have financially independent young women.
