Singer Ariel Uwayezu, commonly known as Ariel Wayz, has released her first solo single titled "Ntabwo Yantegereza”.
This comes after the 20-year-old parted ways with her former band Symphony Band early this year, embarking on her music career as a single artiste.
Wayz had joined the band right after completing high school education, taking up the role of soloist.
Previously, Symphony Band consisted of six members including Etienne Niyontezeho, Joachim Mugengakamere, singer and guitarist, Fabrice Irakora, a drummer, Frank Mugisha, and Jackson Cyiza and Ways, who was the only female member of the group.
"In the band, I learned a lot and I would say it was a stepping stone for me as far as my music career is concerned. Right now, I feel like I have what it takes to compose and release my own songs because of the experience from the band so far,” she said.
As a solo artiste, Wayz said she expects to create music that tells untold stories about life that have a different perspective, and most importantly, with a powerful message that can touch the hearts of people.
"I want my music to go beyond something to just dance to, I want it to touch the hearts of listeners, and in the process, help them in their lives,” she added.
According to the singer, the ‘Ntabwo Yantegereza’ is about a story that people in different situations can resonate with, about love and the choices to not wait for each other, with the accompanying video.
She added that the song took the singer four years to work on and that it is the cornerstone in the solo creative journey that she has embarked on.
"I have a vision of creation that I want to show to the world, and I think this song is the first step or dare I say the first intro or sneak peek into that creation. The creation that I envision will take complete shape/form 5 years down the line,” she said.
