Four people succumbed to Covid-19 in Rwanda on Tuesday, December 29, the Ministry of Health announced in its daily update on the pandemic.

The deceased were identified as three men aged 48, 68 and 78, and a woman aged 84.

On Monday, a single fatality had also been reported, in addition to 11 Covid-19 deaths recorded just last week.

So far, Rwanda’s Covid-19 death toll stands at 79, and, as of now, December remains the month in which many Covid-19 deaths were registered.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 107 people tested positive for the virus, raising the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 8,128. Of these, 6,339 have already recovered.

Of the new infections, 40 were identified in Kigali, 17 in Kayonza district, five in Gicumbi district and two in Burera district among others.

Musanze and Gakenke districts reported 12 Covid-19 cases each, while both Huye and Rubavu districts confirmed eight infections, whereas Rusizi, Kamonyi and Nyagatare districts reported a single positive case each.  

The latest infections were obtained from 2,913 Covid-19 sample tests taken in the last 24 hours. In total, the country has carried out 722,395 Covid-19 tests.
