NORTHERN PROVINCE

RULINDO — Minister of Local Government Protais Musoni on Monday called upon Northern Provincial, District and Sector leaders to embrace the culture of humility, forgiveness and team work in the course of carrying out their duties.

"Government is committed to change leaders’ mentality to work together as one team, for the common interest of all Rwandans”, said Musoni.

Minister Musoni was speaking as guest of honour during a hand over ceremony of the outgoing Northern Province Governor Boniface Rucagu who was passing over the leadership mantle to the current Governor Emmy Bosenibamwe.

The event took place at Kinihira Provincial headquarters. Minister Musoni also advised provincial and district leaders to embrace a culture of innovation within public service.

Minister Musoni was full of praise for the outgoing Governor who has been appointed to head National ‘Itorero’ cultural institutions for his dedication to usher in unity, peace and tranquility in the Northern Province for the last 12 years. 

"We shall continue to work hand in hand with Rucagu to promote Itorero cultural institutions in the entire country, to unite Rwandans under one culture as it used to be in the past”, added Musoni.

During the ceremony  Boniface Rucagu handed over to the new Governor the Rwandan Constitution, district performance contracts, Provincial employees’ files, debts incurred by the Province and Northern Provincial  partners in development among other forms of documentation.

In his address, the new Governor Emmy Bosenibamwe promised to work hand in hand with all five district Mayors that comprise Northern Province to accelerate development in the province and to eradicate genocide ideology.

Also present during the ceremony was the Minister of Internal Security Mussa Fazil Harerimana, Governors of Eastern and Southern Provinces Ephraim Kabaija and  Fidel Ndayisaba, religious leaders and representatives of Northern Province Private Sector Federation (PSF) and other guests.
