Sectors in Musanze district have presented new developmental initiatives as part of the assessment of the performance contracts otherwise known as ‘imihigo’.

Executive Secretaries from 15 sectors which make up the district presented the new initiatives created which focused on a broad array of public service standards within good governance, economic development, welfare and justice. 

The district Executive Secretary, Oswald Habumuremyi said that periodical assessment and constant evaluation creates a platform for sharing experiences within public service.

General presentations were made in terms of the new initiatives introduced in the district. This included six families within Nyange sector who have so far being able to rear at least two cows while being able to install biogas facilities within their homesteads.

Others showcased lnitiatives include households with off-grid electricity producing utilities and those with computers at home.

Meanwhile it has been reported that in Kinigi Sector, Nyabigoma cell, all residents have been able to construct rain water harvesting materials a move that has helped to solve the problem of water scarcity in the mountainous area.

Habumuremye said that, the two month assessment of imihigo for each sector has focused on the economic trend of the families under scrutiny.

The best performing sector,  Cyuve, was acknowledged due to its presentation of clear statistics of residents and the interventions which they have made so far. Part of the statistics have covered the number of poor residents as well as the extend of their poverty levels.
