Over 70 more Covid-19 cases registered, mainly among flight passengers

Rwanda on Friday, December 18, reported 73 new Covid-19 cases.

Among these, 40 were identified in Kigali among passengers entering the country. Currently, every airline passenger landing in the country is tested and isolated for 24 hours as they wait for their results.

Other new infections were detected in Rubavu district where 17 people tested positive for the virus. Meanwhile, Huye district reported seven cases, Musanze district confirmed six, whereas Rwamagana and Burera districts reported two and one Covid-19 case respectively.

The results that were obtained from 3,468 sample tests taken in the last 24 hours. In total, 682,600 tests have been collected country-wide so far.

As of date, Rwanda 7,105 Covid-19 confirmed cases. Of these, 6,089 have already recovered.

Overall, 57 have so far succumbed to the virus.
