President Paul Kagame has congratulated Nana Akufo-Addo, for his re-election as President of Ghana.
According to the Electoral Commission of the West African country, Akufo-Addo won elections with 51.59 per cent of the vote.
Via his Twitter handle, Kagame cheered his counterpart, committing to stronger ties between both countries.
"Congratulations to my brother and friend President Nana Akufo-Addo on your re-election,” he tweeted, adding that: "It is a testament to the trust the people of Ghana have placed in you. We look forward to continued friendship between our two nations and collaboration towards the prosperity of our people.”
Last month, Rwanda and Ghana resolved to boost bilateral relations with a broad, varied economic agenda at the core. In the same period, Rwanda inaugurated the Chancery of the Rwandan High Commission in Accra.
The two countries also pledged their commitment to make the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement (AfCFTA), whose secretariat is hosted by Ghana, work.
The commitment of the two governments came as a major boost to intra-Africa trade prospects ahead of the implementation of AFCFTA agreement, set to come into force in January 2021.
