During the Covid-19 lockdown, many were frustrated to see their plains fail because of the pandemic. There were no more gatherings like church or concerts.
However, lockdown was considered ‘impactful’ to some. Some believers assert that with a biblical view on our circumstances, it may become clearer that what God did during that time of taking things we like away, people were actually getting closer to God!
When you can’t go to watch a movie, you can’t get out of your house, and you are watching cases go up, it should teach you something. Here are some ways the lockdown made a good impact:
Time to build a personal relationship with God
As churches closed, there was no other way to attend holy gatherings. No choir rehearsals, no concerts, etc. However, believers think that it was God guiding them to develop a strong personal relationship with Him. We learnt to pray and fellowship without the help of church leaders, choirs, and et cetera.
Time to pray
Most of us pray every day. A quick mealtime prayer or a few moments in the morning or before we go to bed are pretty common practices. But praying is mostly a rare effort. Without our usual busy schedules, staying at home created more space for us to get close to God in prayer.
Time to stop being petty
Think about the things that have caused strife in families, they are generally very small matters that were blown out of proportion or misunderstood. During lockdown, we had a lot of time to connect with our families, we learnt that quarrelling and misunderstandings over petty things are simply not worth it.
Time to be grateful
Seeing the death toll rise, we learnt that time has one direction and you never know what tomorrow holds. It was (still is) possible to be on the Covid-19 cases list any day. That is why we need to appreciate what we have today. When that opportunity is gone, it is gone! You can’t get time back, and tomorrow is not guaranteed.
