The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda on Wednesday, December 2 reached out to FAWE Girls School with 330 pieces of furniture to assist in social distancing while learning.
The support, according to the embassy is part of an ongoing partnership between them and the school, where each year they reach out to them with some materials.
Speaking at the handover of the furniture, Rao Hongwei the ambassador of China to Rwanda said that the support was in response to a letter sent to the embassy by the school last month concerning the challenges they were facing in form of limited furniture, something that was making it difficult for them to observe government’s instructions on physical distancing at school.
"The Embassy decided immediately to try its best to provide assistance. And today we are here to witness the handover of 333 sets of desks and chairs,” he said.
He said that education means future for a nation.
"In this tough period full of challenges, more attention should be paid to girls’ education. As China and Rwanda enjoy friendship, our two peoples are striving to build a shared future with brightness.”
Meanwhile, with support from the Confucius Institute, FAWE Girls School established a teaching post for Chinese language.
In addition, two years ago, Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan visited the school two, and this, according to Ambassador Rao opened a new chapter of cooperation between the Chinese Embassy and FAWE school.
