It’s with great pleasure to read that the government has appointed a ten person committee, chaired by Claire Akimanzi, with the brief of starting a nationwide campaign to improve customer care in the country.
The team, which is composed of officials from RDB, Private Sector Federation and the government, is attempting to do something that is extremely timely.
For any nation to prosper there must be a consumer care culture. But if the shopping experience is harrowing and a source of continuous frustration, consumers might just rather keep their hard earned money in their pockets than give it to the ungrateful business owners.
Now that we’ve joined the EAC, and with the kind of competition that will arise from it, I think its time that Rwandan businesspersons had a consumer satisfaction culture that can stand up to our regional rivals. If not, they are going to get swamped by the regional pro’.
