EASTERN PROVINCE

BUGESERA—They hugged each other amidst echoes of ‘Allah akbar, Allah akbar’ in congratulation upon completing the fasting for the last day of Ramadan this past Friday. The early morning prayers at Nyamata mosque were held in the open compound marking the end of the holy month.

In his sermon to hundreds of Muslims, Imam sheikh Issa Rugenza alias Jarumurah advised the Muslim faithful "to extend help and love not only to the Moslem brothers” but also to the poor and orphans in order to reap the enormous rewards of Allah.

Reflecting on the holy month of Ramadan, sheikh Jarumurah equated the month to Ingando solidarity camp saying the Muslims should draw lessons from the month to live righteous life.

"Muslims should not draw back to sins they had restrained from during fasting; drug abuse, sexual immorality and others because Allah is ever lasting,” he said.

He cautioned Muslims against making evil sacrifices but only to sacrifice to Allah. Urging Muslims to thank Allah for the current peace in the country, the Imam also urged Muslims to pray for their Muslims brothers in Iraq, Palestine and others that are still embroiled in war.
