Moroccan tactician Mohamed Erradi Adil is optimistic that APR will be ready to see off Kenyan giants Gor Mahia when the two sides square-off in the Caf Champions League later this month.
APR were drawn against Gor in the preliminary round on Monday, with the first-leg scheduled for the weekend of November 27-29 in Kigali.
The decisive encounter, for a place into the first round, will be played a week later in Nairobi.
Reacting to his side’s draw, Erradi praised Gor Mahia as ‘the best team in Kenya and one of the best in East Africa’ but insisted that APR will be ready for the challenge.
"We want to reach far in the competition, so we have to be ready for the two matches (against Gor Mahia). We will do everything possible to advance to the next round,” he said.
Erradi further noted, "Gor are a tough team, and probably more experienced in the Champions League. The challenge ahead is not going to be easy, but there will be no excuse or shortcut. We have to work for the result we all want.”
APR secured the ticket into Africa’s premier club competition after clinching their record-extending 18th league title unbeaten last season.
Should APR overcome the tricky Kenyan side, they will meet either CR Belouizdad of Algeria and Libya’s El Nasr in the first round.
