The executive committee of Rwanda football association (Ferwafa) has disqualified Amagaju from the upcoming second division playoffs, which start on Thursday.

The Nyamagabe-based side, whose 11 players tested positive for Covid-19 last week, will not be part of the playoffs and will not stand a chance for promotion into the 2020/21 Rwanda Premier League.

The club was penalised for recklessness and violating preventive guidelines.

"The leader of your team has been negligent in the implementation of the Covid-19 containment guidelines,” Ferwafa wrote to Amagaju on Wednesday, informing the club of their removal from the playoffs.

Times Sport understands that one player Evariste Murindwa joined the team late, and is said to have been the source of coronavirus spread in the camp.
