Usually in hotels, bands are known to entertain the guests through karaoke. Well, this time around it is not the case.

Gospel artiste Gasasira Rugamba has devoted himself to ministering with J360° band at Hôtel des Mille Collines every Tuesday, a move he started in 2018 until up to date.

He effectuates the ambiance of God’s presence through his euphonious voice- with the intention of spreading the word of God yet en-thralling the audience at the same time.

At first, it was a bit perplexing for him because he was used to singing in the church atmosphere but through prayer and experience, his music of about two hours once a week, has intrigued some people to give their lives to Christ and others drawing closer to God.

Starting off

Rugamba is a worship leader at Zion Temple Celebration Centre in Nyarutarama, who started playing the piano in his local church at the age of nine.

As he played the piano, he sang along, even though his voice wasn’t that nice. In 2012, he had an accident which made him spend six months down due to a knee injury.

It is through that period that he started learning a song dubbed, "Simply redeemed” which he sang when he got back to church.

Surprisingly, the congregation was amazed by his great vocals. That’s when his singing jour-ney started.

Rugamba is a music director at Mashirika Per-forming and Media. He is also a vocal coach, and music arranger.

When asked why he focused on only gospel music, he responded that, "Because I am a Christian, I was created to worship God as my main purpose in life.”
