Rwandan artiste Sefu Kayambi, has always loved singing from childhood, so much so that to be pardoned from punishments, he had to first sing to please his parents.

In 2012, he embarked on a solo music career with the release of his first single- ‘Iturije’, and followed it with, ‘Kubwawe’, featuring singer Vicky.

At the time, he was a high school student merely doing music for fun. But as a young and upcoming artiste without money, promoting his songs became a daunting experience for him.

He therefore had to halt his new found career to focus on completing his studies and find a job to fund his music projects.

"My first songs were recorded for fun because I was young and knew that I was musically talented. Right now, I realise that one can make money from their talent and have fun at the same time,” he says.

To relaunch his music, he, a few days ago, released ‘Inshuti Gusa’, produced by JAY P and the video directed by Bob Chris Raheem.

Kayambi is a self-taught singer and songwriter who’s music makes it clear that he draws his artistic inspiration from genuine moments of extreme emotion such as heartbreak and pleasure.

"My songs are inspired by events in my life and the people around me. The story in ‘Inshuti Gusa’ is about loving someone for a long time and when they lose interest, you wish they could at least remain friends,” he says.

The singer explains that having taken quite some time off the music scene, he is currently working on a number of music projects, with which he intends to promote  to make up for the time lost.

"In my songs I also try to incorporate other languages like English to help reach out to a larger audience. I’m also prepared to set myself apart from other artistes because I have my own unique style of music,” he adds.

The singer maintains an exceptional impression to his persona which allows people to focus on his music. He believes that music is a global sound and wants to use his ability to sing as a way to help others in need.
