Irembo, in collaboration with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), recently hosted a specialised workshop for tour operators.
Irembo is a revolutionary digital services platform in Rwanda, aiming to simplify the delivery of Rwandan government services while the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is a government institution, mandated to accelerate Rwanda’s economic development by enabling private sector growth.
The workshop by the two institutions aimed to enhance the user experience and improve support for tour operators, address their challenges, provide better support, and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between tour operators and Irembo.
It brought together 100 participants, including 80 tour operators.
It was tailored for licensed tour operators registered with the RDB, new operators looking to improve their digital capabilities, and representatives from travel agencies and related businesses.
Irembo and RDB are committed to supporting the growth and success of tour operators through events such as this workshop, given that tourism plays a crucial role in Rwanda’s economy by creating jobs and stimulating economic growth, said Noella Kajeneri Dushime, the Director of Business and Partnerships at Irembo, while introducing the IremboPay platform and its services.
"This workshop offered tour operators the chance to discover the features of the IremboPay platform, interact with our team, and offer feedback to enhance our services. We are dedicated to ensuring that our platform meets users' needs and contributes to their success,” she stated.
The workshop covered an introduction to the Irembo payment platform, live demonstrations of how to access and make payments using the platform, a presentation on the support provided by IremboPay to its clients, hands-on training, and practical exercises.
The event also included Q&A sessions and open forums for discussion, offering a comprehensive and interactive learning experience.
"We are dedicated to ensuring that tour operators have a smooth and efficient experience with our platform. This workshop was a significant step towards achieving that goal by providing hands-on training and practical insights.
"Our partnership with RDB in organising this workshop emphasises our commitment to empowering tour operators with the digital tools they need to succeed. We believe this initiative will significantly enhance their operational efficiency and customer satisfaction,” Sylvie Sarambwe, Product Manager in Product and Engineering at Irembo, said.
Esther Mukagasana, Sales and Reservation Coordinator at RDB added: "The success of this workshop shows the value of collaboration between the public and private sectors. By working together, we can create a more vibrant and efficient tourism industry in Rwanda. We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with Irembo and supporting our tour operators in their journey towards digital transformation."
Since its establishment, Irembo has been a leader in digitising government services.
It provides a wide range of online services that streamline processes and improve efficiency.
IremboPay, which is an essential part of Irembo, facilitates easy payments for various services, enhancing the overall user experience and contributing to Rwanda's digital transformation.
RDB was established in 2008 out of a merger of eight government institutions, primarily to create a one-stop shop for business and investments. Since then, RDB has been built with global expertise and modelled on international best practices.
