Editor,

Getting sick is treated as a crime by many hospitals in Rwanda. Patients are not attended to in time and at times some patients are given appointments that aren’t in tandem with just how serious their cases are.

Negligence in hospitals has caused deaths. Last week the New Times wrote an article about how an 18 year had died in Muhima hospital because the doctor on duty, allegedly, neglected treating her.

This incident comes right on the heels of another one where some doctors at Ngarama hospital had been removed from the Rwandan medical register because of medical malpractice, causing the death of a patient.

Sickness is part and parcel of life and if all patients suffer negligence we shall end up losing many citizens. Doctors should do their work or resign.
