I am a Kenyan Hotelier now in Kigali three months. I have lived and worked in several East African Cities, as diverse as Nairobi and Lubumbashi. But nowhere have I encountered the genre of drivers such as are found in your beautiful city of Kigali.

It would appear that the driving code is permanently suspended in Kigali, and road-usage is subjected to bipartisan agreement of drivers. The carelessly casual disregard for other road-users is appalling to say the least.

It is as if traffic lanes are inexistent, clearly-marked pedestrian crossing are often ignored, right of entry into roundabouts, turn-ins, T-sections etc..all left to the chaotic vulgarise of might and dare, and vehicle directional indicators may well not be carried , the list is endless.

As Rwanda moves to integrate into the EAC, it might be logical and necessary to carry out an aggressive campaign to sensitise drivers as to the requirements of the Traffic Code.
