40 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Mahama Refugee Camp located in Kirehe District, Eastern Province, on Wednesday, October 28.
This is the highest number of daily infections to be registered in a refugee camp in Rwanda, after the record of 27 Covid-19 cases that were reported in Mahama Refugee Camp on October 23.
It is also the highest number in as many days, after mostly single-digit daily cases countrywide for a couple of weeks now.
The cluster of refugee camps was first announced on October 14 in the same camp, and later some infections were also confirmed in Kiziba Refugee Camp in Karongi District.
Meanwhile, Kigali and Nyagatare district have also confirmed two Covid-19 cases each, on Wednesday.
Huye district also reported one infection of the pandemic.
The results were obtained from 1,619 tests carried out in the last 24 hours.
As of now, Rwanda has a total number of 243 Covid-19 patients after the recovery of 4, 851 people.
The country’s Covid-19 death toll remains at 35 people since the outbreak of the pandemic.
