Thirty-two teams have registered for this year’s Amahoro Cup whose winner represents Rwanda in the Caf Confederations Cup.
The competition gets underway on April 4 at the preliminary stage with 16 fixtures spread across the country. All the 12 first division and 20 second division clubs have registered.
Defending champions APR will open their campaign against minnows Etoile de l’Est away in the Eastern Province while Atraco will host ISAE in Kigali. Rayon Sport plays away to Inter force Police in Kacyiru.
Rayon Sport and APR are the record winners of the Amahoro Cup each having won it eight times. Rayon Sport won the titles in 1976, 1979, 1982, 1989, 1993, 1995, 1998 and 2005) while APR won the title in 1995,1996, 2000,2001, 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Fallen giants Kiyovu have won it twice; in 1975 and 1985.
