Mulisa keen on guiding Rwanda to Angola

Jimmy Mulisa is determined to repay for the faith entrusted in him by guiding Amavubi Stars to the finals of 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

Mulisa, who before his latest recall to the national team had become a forgotten but told Times Sport on phone from Beveren (Belgium) that he is fit and ready to play his heart out so that Rwanda can qualify for her second African Nations Cup.

The Beveren midfielder said, "I am free from any injuries, which has helped me regain my good form.”

"I’ve played a lot of games this season and I feel am on track to get to my top form, and now I want to transform my club form to the national team by doing everything we can as a team to make sure we qualify for the 2010 CAN,” Mulisa said.

The former APR ace noted that his aim to better his last contribution to the Amavubi Stars before suffering a long term knee injury during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers where Rwanda finished third in Group D with three points behind leaders Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea who finished second.

The 26-year-old missed the previous qualifying round after being overlooked due to his knee injury and off-form problems though he was featuring for Belgian second division club FC Hamme at the time.

He went on to sign for first division side FK Roselerie, a move that improve his form but would not make it into the first team. Roselerie have since loaned him to second division club Beveren.

He joins Amavubi camp on Monday ahead of third round of the 2010 World/Africa Nations’ Cup qualifier against Algeria due next Saturday at Nyamirambo stadium.

He will be joined by Hamad Ndikumana (AC Omonio), Bobo Bola (Sweden), Boubakary Saddou (Al-Ahly Tripoli) and Henry Munyaneza (Germinal Beerschot).

Amavubi skipper Olivier Karekezi joins camp today from Norwegian second division club Ham Kam while Said Abedi Makasi has already reported to camp.

The availability of the seven professionals will surely cause coach Branko Tucak some necessary selection headache as he must line-up his best guns against Algeria.

Rwanda is drawn alongside continental champions Egypt, Zambia and Algeria in Group C of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Rwanda last qualified for the continental showpiece finals in 2004 and missed on the 2006 Ghana finals and this time, Amavubi Stars must finish inside the top three to qualify for Angola 2010 CAN finals.
