Police Handball Club have forfeited their first handball league final playoff game against rivals APR HC, Times Sport understands.
The decision comes after Police HC players walked off the court midway the first playoff game held at Maison des Jeunes Kimisagara, on June 29, expressing dissatisfaction at referee’s decision to award a penalty to APR.
It was in the 19th minute of the match when referee Ezziel Ndahimana awarded a penalty to APR which they scored to extend their lead to 10-8. However, Police players protested against the referee’s decision and refused to continue to play, reportedly claiming that they were ‘cheated’.
Times Sport understands that, as a result of the forfeiture, APR were awarded a 20-point walk-over win.
Times Sport also understands that Police Handball Club coach Antoine Ntabanganyimana has been suspended from all handball activities for a period of one year.
