Singer Eddy Kenzo together with friends and family on Saturday, June 29, put on a big show as they were officially welcomed to the home of his partner Phiona Nyamutoro.

The splashy function was held at the home of the State Minister for Mineral Development in Buziga, a Kampala suburb.

It was attended by family members and close friends of the couple and characterised by merrymaking, lots of dancing (mostly to Kenzo's own songs) and showboating.

Clips taken from the event showed Kenzo and his friends led by businessman Felix Kabuye splashing dollar bills at the minister as another woman picked them up.

A new start

Kenzo, who years ago came out of a highly published relationship with songstress Rema Namakula, committed to a new beginning with his new lover.

The couple were filmed dancing on a platform branded "New Journey.”

The looks

While Kenzo and his entourage rocked traditional kanzus, Nyamutoro went for an elegant champagne coloured gown that featured a delicate pattern of small flowers or stars throughout the fabric.

She complemented it with a western Uganda-style headband adorned with beads or pearls, adding a regal touch to her overall appearance.

It's official

Taking to social media on Saturday evening, Kenzo announced that the function was the first step and to be followed by others including travelling to Nyamutoro’s ancestral home in Nebbi.

"First step done,” he posted on his social media platforms along with pictures from the function.

"Nebbi, Masaka and friends will be coming soon to pick our bride.”

The singer was showered with congratulatory messages from fans online.

"Congratulations my lovely People Papa Eddy Kenzo and Mum Phiona Nyamutoro,” wrote Ghetto Kids star, Patricia Nabakooza

One Nakato Angella wrote, "So proud of you and your accomplishments keep up the amazing work.”
