The Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RDRC) has announced its intention to form a coalition with media practitioners and partner countries in the repatriation of Rwandans in the DRC.

According to Jean Sayinzoga the commission’s chairman, media houses from Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and partner countries like UK, Germany, Belgium, Sweden and Norway will be part of the campaign.

"We need all these Rwandans to come and build our country so all partners will be put on board, including the media, to sensitize them to return,” Sayinzoga narrated.

Those targeted for repatriation include those living in the jungles of DRC, Congo Brazzaville, Zambia and others in Europe.

"Using military force is always a last resort…we shall press on with sensitisation by using radios, televisions and other publications to mobilize those still roaming in different countries,” Sayinzoga reiterated.

Speaking to The New Times, on phone, Sayinzoga pointed out the need for cross-boarder sensitisation since the recent joint Rwanda-DRC  military operation code named Umoja Wetu did not repatriate them all.

"Since the operation ended, we have had at least 500 Rwandans repatriated and are now in the solidarity camp at Mutobo and some are still coming,” said Maj Gen Paul Rwarakabije, a commissioner in RDRC.
