Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer, Jules Kalisa has confirmed that up to seven professionals have been summoned to Amavubi Stars camp for the 2010 World/African Cup qualifier against Algeria on March 28 in Kigali.
Club-less striker Said Abedi Makasi joined the Amavubi camp on Monday despite going months without playing competitive football.
Abedi, Amavubi’s joint top scorer for the campaign along with Olivier Karekezi with three goals each, arrived in Kigali over the weekend.
His former Israel club Hapoel Haifa, Under unclear circumstances, refused to grant his an International Transfer Certificate which would have seem him join Morocco’s Difaa El Jadida who had shown interest in him.
The former Rayon Sport forward is undoubtedly out of form and looks thinner than his usual physique because of the time he has spent without doing serious training.
Skipper Karekezi is expected to join the team’s training camp this weekend. The availability of the Norway-based midfielder cum striker in this crucial qualifier has been in doubt recently following reports that his club was reluctant to release him.
The five remaining professionals include Al-Ahly Tripoli defender Boubakary Saddou, Bobo Bola (Sweden), Hamad Ndikumana (Omonio), Henry Munyaneza (Germinal Beerschot) and Jimmy Mulisa (Beveren); and are expected to arrive on Monday.
Rwanda is drawn alongside Algeria, Egypt and Zambia in Group C of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Having failed to qualify for the last two Nations Cup finals, Rwanda must finish inside the top three to qualify for Angola 2010 CAN finals.
