Editor,

I travelled to Butare, two days ago, on a bus owned by the Volcano Bus Company and what a disaster it was. The Volcano buses pride themselves on their punctuality and comfort but, on that day at least, they were neither.

For a trip that should last a few minutes over two hours, I was shocked to get to Butare town in two hours fifty minutes. Everyone knows that over-speeding is deadly, but the driver was taking ‘taking his time’ too literally.

He was having a heated, and rather loud, conversation with a lady passenger while driving at a snails pace. It wouldn’t have been so bad if he kept the radio down.

But not only were the passengers forced to listen to his family problems, the radio was on full blast. I think that passenger have certain rights.

A restful journey and getting to their destination on time. I wasn’t given either. Volcano Bus company should do something about this.
